Consequently, I probably read more Target novels than any other type of book, and more books by Terrance Dicks than any other author. /SPOILERS AHEAD/ My main dissatisfaction comes with The Turning of the Tide, the first printed work about the Metacrisis Doctor and Rose Tyler. This project just didn't come together, I'm afraid!A good solid collection of short stories covering all the current Doctors (As was the case in 2019.) A clever selection of missing bits/prologues/epilogues/unseen snippets from existing stories, brought to life by a wonderful selection of authors, including the late, great Terrance Dicks' final contribution to a range he fashioned with his own two hands. However, he was born in a separate body than the original Doctor, existing as a separate person with DNA sampled from Donna. I can't praise this work highly enough.A great collection of stories in the grand Target tradition.Short story collections are always a little hit or miss. (Rose insisted that she wouldn't keep referring to him as the Doctor.
As is to be expected in a collection of stories some are better than others but in terms of the writing all are well written, with one exception. Enjoyed this collection of short stories involving all the Doctors.
I enjoyed this collection. (In the original script, the Doctor was meant to give Fandom may earn an affiliate commission on sales made from links on this page.Fandom may earn an affiliate commission on sales made from links on this page.Take your favorite fandoms with you and never miss a beat.
☹️A real mixed bag of inconsistent quality, ranging from solid, entertaining stories to glorified fan fiction, and one or two that barely connect to Doctor Who at all.Reading this was a mixed experience for me as some of the stories (The Turning of the Tide) got me right in the feels, whilst other stories didn’t make much sense to me (although this is mainly because I’m not overly familiar with Classic Who).
This short story collection pays homage to the best of those books, which often fleshed out the characters and stories from the TV series by adding depth and background information. Perhaps the biggest surprise is the fact that four doctors don't have stories included. Each story expands in thrilling ways upon aspects of Doctor Who’s enduring legend. Each story is accompanied by a piece of excellent artwork as well. Goodreads helps you keep track of books you want to read.
Given the often-large number of stories collected in a volume, the likelihood of every single story being amazing, or even good, isn't very high. Start by marking “Doctor Who: The Target Storybook” as Want to Read: The Doctor, also known as Corin, (PROSE: The Turning of the Tide) was a human-Time Lord hybrid of the Tenth Doctor and Donna Noble who was created by an instantaneous biological metacrisis and was the final result of the Tenth Doctor's aborted regeneration.

Need I say more? The Target stories have an impressive legacy, and I'm sure this will rest well amongst the others. Now THIS is simply wonderful: a celebration of why we "Doctor Who" fans loved our Target novelizations, and why we're so happy that they've returned to our lives. 15 doctor who stories from a variety of authors including previous Doctor Who novel contributors, audio drama writers, former actors and other sci-fi authors and contributors, such as Colin Baker (the 6th doctor), George Mann (Doctor Who: Engines of War), Matthew Waterhouse (played Adric in classic Who) and many more besides. Let us know what’s wrong with this preview of With contributions from show luminaries past and present including Colin Baker, Matthew Waterhouse, Vinay Patel, Joy Wilkinson and Terrance Dicks …
My faves were probably the stories with the 10th Dr & Rose in the alternate universe, and getting to see some of the War Doctor in action. 1785944746
However, Jenny T. Colgan's story about the Metacrisis Tenth Doctor ruined quite a lot of this book for me. I particularly enjoyed the trial of a time lord story written by Colin Baker. But overall it was a bit bland. Interesting to see how authors have speculated about adventures before or after some of the televisions scripts.
