Después de leer el libro verás las matemáticas de distinta manera.
First off, this book is not a textbook.
First half went quickly.
This book is very well written with motivations coming from Shrek like animations, not joking, it's true. Made me fall in love with calculus again!!! The Joy of X: A Guided Tour of Mathematics, from One to Infinity A renowned teacher and one of the world’s most highly cited mathematicians, he has blogged about math for the Escrito para entender el calculo --en caso de no saber nada o poco --, de manera sencilla.
No soy hablante nativo del inglés, por lo que tuve que recurrir continuamente al diccionario, me parece que al autor le gusta utilizar un inglés elegante con términos no muy frecuentes.
I will suggest this book to my students.
If you are interested in Calculus and don't have a math background this is a great book.
Strogatz illustrates how discovering calculus equation can lead to extraordinary real world results. Will need to reread a few more times to get some of the concepts to stick.
This book is much more than just a history of a branch of mathematics.

"— “A delightful exploration of the beauty and fun of mathematics, in the best tradition of Lewis Carroll, George Gamow, and Martin Gardner. This book is a must for them who find calculus difficult and not interesting.
You won't be reading it and doing homework or taking tests or solving equations and checking the back of the book to see if you got them right - thank goodness!
Steven Strogatz manages to unmask the true hidden wonder and delightful simplicity of calculus. I literally learned something on every page, despite my innumerate brain.
Steve Strogatz is the teacher we all wish we had." He shows that this stuff really matters, and he shows that it can nourish us.”—James Gleick, author of “Steve Strogatz may be the only person alive with the skill to pied piper me into the murky abyss of set theory.
Infinite Powers is a master class in accessible math writing and a perfect read for anyone who feels like they never quite understood what all the fuss was about. A gem.Entender la parte fina del cálculo Diferencial Integral
The Joy of X: A Guided Tour of Mathematics, from One to Infinity
The book is fine.
As Strogatz proves, calculus is truly the language of the universe. Muy recomendable
A renowned teacher and one of the world’s most highly cited mathematicians, he has blogged about math for the New York Times and The New Yorker and has been a frequent guest on Radiolab and Science Friday..
Excellent read.
Early in his career, Strogatz worked on a variety of problems in mathematical biology, including the geometry of supercoiled DNA,Perhaps his best-known research contribution is his 1998 Strogatz's writing for the general public includes four books and frequent newspaper articles. This book provided me with a mind model to think about calculus.
Bello libro, el autor habla de la historia del calculo paso a paso te presenta retos y te invita a resolverlos.
Steven Strogatz manages to unmask the true hidden wonder and delightful simplicity of calculus.

It's a good history and present clear examples to illustrate the beauty of calculus.

Steven H. Strogatz An introductory text in nonlinear dynamics and chaos, emphasizing applications in several areas of science, which include vibrations, biological rhythms, insect outbreaks, and genetic control systems.
Nonlinear Dynamics and Chaos: With Applications to Physics, Biology, Chemistry, and Engineering, Second Edition (Studies in Nonlinearity)
Though many of us were scared away from this essential, engrossing subject in high school and college, Steven Strogatz’s brilliantly creative, down-to-earth history shows that calculus is not about complexity; it’s about simplicity. It's also great if you do have a math background.
I am teaching Analysis/Calculus for a while now.
“Readers who pay close attention to Strogatz’s analogies, generously supplied with graphs and illustrations…will enjoy the long final section, which eschews education in favor of a history of modern science, which turns out to be a direct consequence of this mathematics…an energetic effort that successfully communicates the author’s love of mathematics.” "Delightful .
We wouldn’t have unraveled DNA or discovered Neptune or figured out how to put 5,000 songs in your pocket.
He has also won several teaching awards at Cornell, including Cornell's highest undergraduate teaching prize, the Stephen H. Weiss Presidential Fellowship (2016).Strogatz was selected to be the 2009 Rouse Ball Lecturer at Cambridge When I was in college I majored in mathematics, and calculus wasn’t as big a challenge to me as it is for others (statistics, however, is another matter entirely).
