Bob was kind to turn the heat and lights on in the cabin prior to our arrival so that we wouldn't be walking into a dark cold cabin. Free parking is available at Forest Houses Hotel. Forest Houses Resort is situated on 20 wooded acres in upper Oak Creek Canyon. The houses are each unique and charming. On the first floor as soon as you step into the cabin is the kitchen followed by the dinning area. I'm reluctant to give a review because I want to keep this as my own secret place. There’s nothing else like it in Sedona. The canyon floor, 1,500 – 2,000 feet below the rim, is shaded and cooled by giant Ponderosa Pine and Douglas Fir. In the living room there's a huge fire places which continues upstairs to the to the fireplace in the master bedroom. We stayed at the Trout house in 2017. It has 2 bedrooms, a rock fireplace, full kitchen and cozy living room with beautiful picture window and rock fireplace. Past the bathroom is the second bedroom which has 2 twin beds. Forest Houses Resort is situated on 20 wooded acres in upper Oak Creek Canyon. The Log House took three years to finish. But if the idea of relaxing in a rustic but comfortable beautiful setting disconnected from the web and pull of modern life appeals to you, then get ready to enjoy the time of your life!

I feel the Trout house gives you that up close creek feeling more which we liked better and it's a little more private but the Rock house by design is so cool inside. My man and I recently stayed at these cabins for tbe second time. No A/C but we have never been hot here. The first floor is an open floor plan so the kitchen looks right into the living area and beyond that a wall of windows to the the outside patio. We stayed in the Oak House cabin located right next to the office. Winter brings several snowfalls as the resort is just above the snowline at an altitude of one mile.Close to the resort are several spectacular trail walks and scenic hikes varying from relaxing to strenuous and providing opportunities to explore the unusual geological formations and vegetation of the canyon. Most recently we stayed in the Rock house which is also on the creek with a beautiful creek view from your deck and an extended large patio. The resort is separated from Highway 89A by trees and Oak Creek – a clear, cool, continuously flowing mountain stream stocked with Rainbow and Brown trout and supporting an abundance of birds and wildlife. The views are lovely. Granted, this place may not be for everyone. They are so cozy and relaxing. Need a place to park? We love the family-owned atmosphere and the natural atmosphere (no TVs or room service), but great fun at incredibly reasonable prices.
