Before cutting notches, set your saw depth and make a test cut to check the depth. Fortunately I hadn’t started cutting!Do you have this sketchup file anywhere available for download?
Instead of the long permanent table off the back, do you think I could put one of the folding wings, like from your miter saw table or would that make it too heavy on the backside when opened?I’m not totally sure on that one. The dimensions shown work for my table saw. Definitely going to give this a shot but don’t you need 3 sheets of plywood assuming 4×8 sheets? from the edge of the scrap. First project is always a learner will this bench fir for the Ryobi 10 in. Thanks for building from my plans!Very nice plans! Two feet and nine inches is 2’9″ = 12″ + 12″ + 9″ = 33″. No glue in this project, but you could use glue between everything if you want to. Use 2 1/2″ self tapping screws through the frame to attach the 2x4s.
However, since this is just a workbench, I simply screwed through the frame into the shorter 2x4s. Instead of building it from scratch in sketchup, I thought I’d see if you already had it available. I just I bought the stuff on the shopping list, made all the cuts but now I still have 4 extra 8’ 2x4s left over. Cut out thin strips of plywood with a sharp chisel and smooth the bottom of the notch with a file. Stay away from construction-grade plywood (it's usually labeled “A-C”, “B-C” or “C-D”). Then I sanded the plywood with 150-grit sandpaper, vacuumed, and applied two coats of Minwax Wipe-On Poly to all the parts. Plus, it makes the whole project look great. If your saw doesn't have a stand, just glue and screw 1x2 cleats to the side panels. Sorry about that. May you please end me a brochure with variations to the work bench shown in the above tutorial. Based on your cuts for the bigger top and bottom shelf, I don’t see enough leftover to make a 33″ x 18 1/4″ single square for your table saw shelf? To complete the sides (A), glue and nail the 3/4-in.
I finally got my table saw today and it fits in perfect. If any of the notches fit too tightly, widen them with a file. I drilled 2-1/2-in.
Then mark the locations of the miter saw mounting holes and drill 5/32-in. Complete DIY projects like a pro! from this measurement and make parts A this height.
x 1/4-in. May you please state measurements in centimetres?
Thanks for the plans and patient replies to the questions that have been asked.I love this work station.
Align the fence with a straightedge lined up to the miter saw fence, and screw the fence to each divider (Photo 5). How are you collecting all that dust and trash if it is flat on the table?I just take the blade guard off the saw and vacuum it out.
lag screws into the studs.
The nominal dimensions of a 2×4 are 2″ x 4″ (thus the name 2×4) but the actual dimensions (if you measure it with a tape measure) are 1.5″ x 3.5″. I assembled the frame upside down to get top frame flush with the tops of the legs.
Thank you for your plans.Great build. It has a great outfeed table; you also gain extra width to rip larger pieces of plywood, and the outfeed table works great for an assembly workbench.
Thanks!I cut the tabletop out of 1 piece of plywood and then cut both the bottom shelf and tablesaw shelf out of the 2nd. I used the original box that the tablesaw came. I love this design because it’s smaller than most plans and I’m limited on space, but I want to incorporate a shelf for my mitre saw on the other end. Not quite getting it.
You could cut a section out of the shelf so there’s room to attach something for sawdust collection (or just let the sawdust fall out)Wait, what happened? Awesome build, great job. Thanks Chad!
How can I get access to the plans? These are the plans.
I just pull out the box and dump the dust out. What an awesome build! Thanks! All the dimensions are listed in the plan diagrams. Or can I get away with a 8 & 1/4 in blade?I have the 10″ table saw, which is the one I built this workbench around.
I was wondering if you had an recommendation of building my own or buying one on a tight budget that would work with this table? There are a lot of great YouTube tutorials out there to build your own fence, but I haven’t done one yet. Be sure to remove any oozing glue. With the feet supporting the sides and the front and rear panels, lay in the struts of the outfeed table.
Will be building it soon. There’s not a printable version (I can’t quite afford that software yet ), but all the info you need to build this is listed on this post!Hey! So the total width of the frame is 30″ + 1.5″ + 1.5″ + 1.5″ + 1.5″ = 36″.
I just went back and double checked, and I must’ve added something up wrong the first time. If you want more of an overhang, you can definitely cut it a little wider. The frame for the shelf attaches on either leg, so that’s 33″. In regards to the second question, I’m not really sure what you mean.
I thought about putting my router in this workbench but ended up leaving it off for now … might have to try that next time!any pictures ?
Screw a block to a sawhorse and clamp the sides (A) precisely together to hold the parts upright and cut. Check the two sides of your plywood before cutting. I’ve never tried it before and neo I’m curious!guess who forgot to put in the bottom shelf till after the table saw shelf was mounted….Happens to the best of us ha! Sign up for our newsletter!Never Use Just the Table Saw Fence to Crosscut Boards! lag screws with washers.
Hi Adam, that’s a great idea!
