I am a Lake Michigan snob because I live in paradise, but Manistee is a very close 2nd in my opinion. Even in mid-June the air was cool and there were very few people on the beach so we had it almost to ourselves.We spent the day here recently with our family. Its a really nice beach, with clean water, clean restrooms and a small snack bar where you can buy hot dogs, chips & ice cream sandwiches. From this beach it is a short walk to the lighthouse. Somewhat difficult to find but worth it. While the first street beach got lots of waves the day that we were there,I am a Lake Michigan snob because I live in paradise, but Manistee is a very close 2nd in my opinion. There is a large lakefront beach with a new Universally Accessible Beach House (including concession/vending) that was constructed next to the playground and parking lot. Nice beach and if not foggy I am sure it would have a fantastic sunset.
